Souya Handa Projects + TAMENTAI
Hiroshima – Inside/Outside

A collaborative exhibition where Isao participates both as a co-curator and exhibiting artist. This project, led by Souya Handa, an artist and independent curator from Hiroshima now based in Tokyo, and TAMENTAI, Isao’s art management business, reexamines Hiroshima through multiple perspectives—those born in Hiroshima, those living in Hiroshima, and those from outside Hiroshima. Following their 2023 collaboration during the G7 Hiroshima Summit, this exhibition coincides with the award-winning show, Take it home, for (__) shall not repeat the error. [Manhattan Project], at apexart, a non-profit organization in New York. Joined by Chihiro Horiguchi, a Fukuoka native now based in Hiroshima as co-curator, the exhibition explores what it means to have roots in, engage with, and depart from Hiroshima through art.

Tour Experience

This tour offers a rare opportunity to view Hiroshima from diverse perspectives—from exhibitions deeply connected to artists’ personal identities to creative works based on local materials. Walking along the Kyobashi River between the two unique venues, you’ll experience a cross-section of Hiroshima’s rich art scene through the eyes of a local art manager and curator who is directly involved with two of the exhibitions you’ll visit.
